Boil Water Advisory Issued
June 17, 2024Dear friends and family of the Moose Cree First Nation,
Today, we gather with heavy hearts to honour and remember the life of David Hardisty, a beloved member of our community and a dedicated employee of the Moose Cree First Nation. David was not just an employee; he was the son of this nation, and his contributions have left an indelible mark on our society and our environment.
David served as the Technical Environmental Monitor for the Moose Cree First Nation for nine full years, with unwavering dedication and passion. His work was more than just a job; it was a calling. David understood the profound connection between our people and the land. He worked tirelessly to ensure that our environment was protected and respected, knowing that our future generations depend on the stewardship we provide today. His efforts have preserved the beauty and integrity of our land, and for that, we owe him a great debt of gratitude.
In his professional life, David was known for his diligence, his thoroughness, and his deep respect for the natural world. He approached every task with a sense of purpose, always striving to do what was best for the community and the environment. His colleagues admired him, not just for his work ethic, but for his kindness, his wisdom, and his ability to inspire those around him.
David’s impact extended far beyond his professional duties. He was a beacon of strength and resilience, especially during the final chapter of his life when he faced illness. Despite the challenges, David bore his sickness with dignity, grace, and gratitude. His courage in the face of adversity was a testament to his character and his enduring spirit. He taught us all valuable lessons about perseverance, about the power of a positive outlook, and about the importance of cherishing every moment we have.
In our memories, David will forever remain the gentle, kind-hearted soul who cared deeply for his family, his friends, and his community. He had a way of making everyone feel valued and heard, and his presence brought comfort and joy to many.
We will miss his laughter, his stories, and the warmth he brought into our lives. But even as we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the incredible legacy he leaves behind. David’s spirit will continue to live on in the forests he protected, the rivers he cherished, and the community he loved so deeply.
As we say our final goodbyes, let us remember David with the same dignity and grace that he exemplified throughout his life. Let us carry forward his passion for the environment, his commitment to our community, and his unwavering spirit of resilience.
May David’s soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us all to be better stewards of the land and kinder to one another.
Rest in peace, dear David. You will forever be in our hearts.
With deepest sympathy and respect,
Mark Butterfly, Executive Director
