What is the Indian Boarding Homes Class Action?
The Indian Boarding Homes Program was created by the Government of Canada. In the 1950s, it placed First Nations and Inuit children in private homes for the purpose of attending school. This Settlement provides compensation to people placed in these homes.
You are a Primary Class Member if Canada placed you in a private home, between September 1, 1951 and June 30, 1992.
You can start applying for compensation starting Wednesday August 21, 2024 at https://boardinghomesclassaction.com/
if I don’t want to participate in this class action and want to sue Canada on your own, you must Opt-Out by Monday July 22nd, 2024. You can find the Opt-Out form at https://boardinghomesclassaction.com/
Moose Cree First Nation members seeking more information or assistance can contact Norma McComb, Associate Executive Director at or 705-658-4619 ext. 223.
