Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Home Care Coordinator and Home Support Lead, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) will focus on providing optimal support of client’s activities of daily living and care required to manage diverse medical conditions. Additional care can be delegated with the collaboration with the Registered Healthcare Professional as needed and when it can be performed.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Current Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Community College or an Accredited PSW (Personal Support Worker) Education Program.
  2. Minimum one (1) year experience in the health care field.
  3. Current certification or willing to obtain within the prescribed period for the following
    1. CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and First Aid
    2. Save Your Back
    3. Glucometer/Continuous glucose monitoring.
    4. Hand washing
    5. WHMIS
    6. CPI-Non-violent Crisis Intervention.
    7. Food Handling.
    8. Privacy and Confidentiality.
    9. Other related certificates in the Home Care Setting.
  4. Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills.
  5. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  6. Must have computer skills and perform documentation on program.
  7. Ability to speak and understand the Cree language an asset.
  8. Work flexible hours and / or during power outages as required.
  9. Class “G” Driver’s License, a definite asset.
  10. Provide copies of certificates, diplomas/degrees along with submitted resume
  11. Criminal record check including Vulnerable Sector clearance is required prior to hiring

 

Salary: $48,380.80 – $65,020.80

Duration: Permanent with 3-months probation
