Community Wellness Worker

Job Location: Moose Factory, ON

 

Position Summary:

The Community Wellness Worker will provide community outreach activities in the community or at the land-based site. To give trauma-focused quality work that will assist all members of Moose Cree First Nation, they shall work closely with the health & wellness department and enhance all aspects of the mental health aspects in the community.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Bachelor of Social Work preferred.
  2. Social Service Worker or other suitable/related diplomas with proven two years of counseling with child & youth experience shall be considered.
  3. Minimum of 2 years of counselling experience in the community-based mental health field
  4. Experience in being out on the land for therapy purposes or willingness to learn.
  5. Experience with working within First Nation preferred.
  6. Demonstrates knowledge in programming, land-based, and health promotional activities.
  7. Demonstrates sound knowledge of community programming and resources.
  8. Strong written and oral communication skills
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain constructive relationships with clients and team members.
  10. Strong critical thinking & problem-solving skills
  11. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  12. Must have a thorough understanding of the cultural environment in which they serve.
  13. Fluency in the Moose Cree language is an asset.
  14. Possesses a strong attention to detail and tact.
  15. G Class Driver’s License preferred
  16. Credentials required: degree/diploma/certificates (please attach proof of the same)
  17. Criminal record check including Vulnerable Sector clearance is required prior to hiring.

 

Salary: $60,001.50 – $76,011.00

 

Duration: Permanent with 3 months probation
